Nelson Foster has been playing drums for 18 years.
By the age of 3 he had destroyed all his mums pots and pans which forced his parents to purchase his first drum kit. He started lessons at Drumtek Studios Melbourne at the age of 4!
By 7 years of age, Nelson was playing in the CCC Coffs Harbour music team, lead by music director and drum teacher at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium, jazz drummer Phil Stitt.
In 2007 Nelson had his final year Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium. Where he had been on the bursory scholarship and various other scholarships since 2000. He was later that year short listed to preform at the "Encore" concert held at the Sydney Opera House.
In November 2009, Nelson entered the Billy Hyde Drum-off held at the Australian Institute of Music, where he placed 3rd in the Open Division.
Most recently, Nelson has been playing with two bands. The progressive rock outfit Beggars Orchestra, who earlier this year entered the studio to recorded their first full length album with internationally acclaimed producer, Brendan Anthony, Which has been mastered by Leon Zervos (Studios 301, Sydney and Sterling, NYC).
The second is Punk rock band Matty Effin Morison, who have just released their first album "Bagus". MEM have been playing many gigs around the mid north coast and have just secured a support slot on the up and coming Guttermouth tour.
Over the years Nelson has played in several bands, has played many gigs and recorded in many styles, from funk/jazz right through to technical death metal, with great skill and great feel.
